ANGELICA CONTRERAS

Surrounded by a child of Eastern aesthetics and taste for American popular culture, discusses the world with irony. Everything appears to be peaceful but with a bittersweet and tragic background at a time. The colors and shapes remind us of childhood, essentially that of a child. His characters, both geishas, children, animals, strange beings or sumo wrestlers are outside their natural environment, to move to a surreal where the essential is to survive, because as to the nature, not everything is rosy .

Born in Whittier, California (1978), but most of his life lies in the city of Guadalajara, being this city where he began his art studies at the Instituto Cultural Cabañas, graphic workshops in the city, and now a degree from the University of Guadalajara. It begins to occur at an early age, began his artistic exhibitions since 1995, so far.

He has exhibited in places like the Forum for Arts and Culture, Contemporary Art Center, the Regional Museum of Guadalajara and Aguascalientes and Casa Museo Lopez Portillo.

He has participated in events and publications for FIL Young, Female Sessions, Open Doors, Cassiopeia, apocryphal, Juxtapoz online and Literalia Editors.
